Yes, things are looking up. I was discharged from the hospital on Wed. and I am staying at my dad's house during the week and at my girlfriend Barbara's house on the weekends. I start out-patient therapy on Monday and am hopeful that this thing will start to reverse itself soon. Until that day, I'm working on doing as much as it will allow me--which isn't much. I'm so easily fatigued and it slams me for a day or so if I do too much. It's every type A personality's worst nightmare--pretty ironic!!!! Patience, Patience, Patience! It’s a new word for me!
For now I'm in a wheelchair and exercising by walking short distances with a walker or parallel bars or in a swimming pool. As I have already told many of you, the single biggest thing I noticed getting out of the hospital is the wonderful colors out there in the real world: Trees, sky, ocean, lawns, flowers. 40 some days in the hospital will do that to you I guess?
My prognosis is excellent. Since they were able to stop the Guillain Barre from getting to my lungs, I have a 90 – 100% chance of getting everything back. It’s just that no one knows when it will happen.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has been so kind and gracious with your visits, phone calls and great get well cards. Thanks, too, to all those damn fireman that get me crying from reliving a career working together and being grateful for all that we currently have in our lives.
The best way to get a hold of me is my cell phone, (310) 600-3013, and my dad’s address is : 9244 Cedar St., Bellflower CA 90706. My therapy runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday, so please call first for a visit. Phone calls and visits are always welcome
